Abstract : Angiogenin is a plasma protein with angiogenic and ribonucleolytic activities. It is the first angiogenic protein to be isolated and characterised from conditioned medium of human tumour cells. This chapter reviews the structural, biochemical and biological properties of angiogenin, its role in vascular biology, and its clinical relevance and potential therapeutic implications.
