Abstract : Chronic hepatitis B virus (HBV) infections remain a major problem public health problem worldwide, as well as a therapeutic challenge for clinicians. This review focuses on the main viral and host determinants involved in HBV persistence in infected cells. The mechanism of HBV resistance to nucleoside analogs are described as well as the concept for multiple drug therapy and combination with immunostimulatory approaches.
